Unicorns

Welcome to North Bristol RFC - Unicorns

The Unicorns team has been established to introduce children to the game of rugby in a fun & safe environment. To join the Unicorns children must be in Reception or Year 1 at school and under six years of age. While the RFU Continuum does not allow under 6’s to play competitive tag rugby games, training is permitted.

Training sessions are held on Sunday mornings starting at 10:30am and last for an hour. A typical session includes a warm up, practicing rugby skills (running, catching, throwing), a “game” of tag rugby and a few fun favourites including stuck in the mud, bulldogs etc. The session ends with a warm-down and the all-important awarding of the ‘player of the week’. From time to time Unicorns will travel with North Bristol juniors to experience playing at other clubs. Prior to each training session you will receive an email confirming the location and start time for that week. Email will also be used to advise everyone of any last minute cancellation of training.

As a parent/guardian of a Unicorn (and to help in the smooth running of a session), you are asked to arrive on time, to dress your child appropriately for the conditions (layers, hats, catching mitts etc.) and to stay with your children at all times – from time to time you may even be asked to join in!
