North Bristol RFC

Continuum Mini Tag Rugby.

Play games with small numbers, no more than seven. Squad sizes are set by festival organisers, but not less that 10 players

Passes may be sideways or backwards through the air.

Free pass restart no more than 2metres, opponents 7 metres away on line parallel to goal line.

No scrum.

No line out. A ball going in to touch will result in the opposing side restarting the game with a free pass from the point on the touchline where the ball went out of play. If within 7 metres of try line, play restarts 7 metres from tryline.

No kicking.

A tackle - a 'Tag' - is made by removal of one of the two tags from the ball carriers belt.

The tagged player must pass the ball to a team mate within 3 seconds. The tagged player must stop running as soon as possible (within 3 strides is a reasonable guide).

The tagger must stop running and wait for the tagged player to reclaim their tag before re-joining the game.

No diving to score or falling on the ground.

A team has a maximum of 6 'tags' to score. On the 7th 'tag' possession is lost to the defending side. No hand offs, fend offs or barging.

In preparation for U9 Rugby, uncontested scrum, lineout and tackles can be coached after the first of February.

Welcome to NBRFC U9s

NBRFC Junior Section would like to welcome you and your child/children to the club. The Mini Section provides a fun and structured training session once a week at 10:45 on a Sunday morning. The Under9s age group play a variation of Rugby whereby full contact is introduced safely.

No matter what your ability or gender there will always be a game for everyone with the emphasis on the enjoyment of a wonderful game in a safe and controlled environment. When a game is in progress the children not playing will carry on with a training session until it is their turn to play. There is no favouritism or positions to worry about and all children whatever their ability will play their part in the game. We would request at this time however, that you remain on the touchline, or another person to do so as responsible for your child. During the season the Coaching staff will be working towards the Key learning objectives they have set themselves for the children

This squad is coached by Matt Skuse who is an RFU level 1 qualified coach whod know hows how to get the best out of the children. Mat of course is a parent volunteer, CRB checked and RFU certified for child protection, whilst being assisted by a great team. Their input and enthusiasm makes this a great bunch to be involved with, if you'd like to come on down please do so. Pull up and introduce yourself and you'll be made very welcome and will be pleasantly suprised as how these 'professionals' get your son or daughter passing and sidestepping. Nothing to lose here except you dignity when jumping up and down with the fun and excitement of a matchday. South Gloucestershire's best kept secret is this happy bunch.....
