Welcome
to North Bristol RFC Minis

NBRFC
Minis is a well administered, growing and becoming more successful
as the children progress. We have a commitment to good fun and good
rugby provided in a friendly, family orientated environment. We
fully endorse the RFUs philosophy of fun first results second. The
success of the club is its inclusiveness and its warm, welcoming
and friendly atmosphere .
Mini
rugby is a specially designed approach to rugby that introduces
boys and girls to the key aspects of the game in a structured and
safe manner. Children play in groups from U7 to U12, gaining new
skills and a wider appreciation of the game as they progress from
age group to age group. Most importantly however, children learn
about the camaraderie and the philosophy of rugby, making new friends
from a wide range of schools, backgrounds and cultures. If your
child is in Reception and can understand and take instruction then
they will be offered a place within the Unicorns.
Our
training staff are committed, enthusiastic and have a well-developed
understanding of the needs of children and how is best to communicate
to them. Each member has been fully vetted by the Police Criminal
Records Bureau and are fully committed to Child Protection. Training
takes place on Sunday mornings at Oaklands with players expected
to arrive at 10:30 for a 10:45 start for either a fully structured
training session or a pre arranged fixture against another club.
Each session finishes at approximately 12:15 pm. Alternatively,
turn up at Oaklands on a Sunday morning when we're at home and see
for yourself.
Kit:
Boots: Football boots are perfectly adequate for Mini Rugby, in
fact you'd be hard pushed to find Rugby boots for this age group.
There are two simple request here which are, please no Blade Studs
& please don't spend over £25.00 on a pair of boots. Up until October
time when the ground is still firm you will find trainers are adequate.
The Rugby Club also holds a wide range of training kit with the
club logo, which can be purchased, in the Club House.
Club House:
Please feel free to use the Club House after training and get to
know the other parents. There is a snack bar run by the Junior Section
where you can buy tea, coffee, chips, burgers, bacon butties etc.
and of course a bar for the Mums and Dads. The Kitchen is staffed
by volunteers, and would welcome any offers of help. All the kitchen
profit goes to the Junior Section.
Safety:
The RFU Continuum strongly advises that your child wears a gum
shield - At time of print these are available from Asda at Patchway
for 98p. When your child starts to play contact rugby then a gum
shield becomes compulsory
